A Town Called Panic

Toy Story on Absinth.  They came, they saw, they panicked.

Animated plastic toys like Cowboy, Indian and Horse have problems, too. Cowboy and Indian's plan to surprise Horse with a homemade birthday gift backfires when they destroy his house instead. Surreal adventures take over as the trio travel to the center of the earth, trek across frozen tundra and discover a parallel underwater universe where pointy-headed (and dishonest!) creatures live. With panic a permanent feature of life in this papier mâché town, will Horse and his girlfriend ever be alone?

The Illusionist - Sylvain Chomet

I think the best description of the film is as follows “An 80-minute, hand-drawn animated French film without dialogue and with one of the most depressing finale acts ever committed to celluloid: this is The Illusionist. It’s also some sort of divine masterpiece.”

Set initially in Paris, through London, Scotland and eventually settling in Edinburgh this film follows the life of a magician and his dying art. No one is interested in his work and as he travels he finds that less and less people are coming to his shows. Along the way his magic entices a young girl, bored of her humdrum life, naïvely she latches onto him and being unworldly does not quite understand the value of money, the magician does nothing to discourage that, and produces gifts and treasures as if by magic, working extra hard to keep the illusion up.

Micmacs - Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Bazil our main character, dad got killed by a land-mine and later on in his life he gets shot in the head by a stray bullet.  Loosing his job and his home, he gets adopted by a group of eccentrics living off a scrapheap.  With his new band of friends he goes on a revenge streak of the two arms dealers that changed his life.

The Triplets of Belleville - Sylvain Chomet

The Triplets of Belleville is a strange and curiously wonderful film from france.  A lonely little boy Champion living with his Grandma recieves his first bycle and from that moment on his life goal is to race in the Tour de France.  No sooner has the race begun, he is kidnapped by men in black suits. His aunt goes to find him, and happens across the Triplets of Belleville, three music hall stars, and they go to battle against the french mafia.

OH did i mention the dog, he is prob the best character in this plot, he is fat, he is clumsy and he likes to bark at trains. But in a weird and wonderful way he is cute and is very funny.
