Micmacs - Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Bazil our main character, dad got killed by a land-mine and later on in his life he gets shot in the head by a stray bullet.  Loosing his job and his home, he gets adopted by a group of eccentrics living off a scrapheap.  With his new band of friends he goes on a revenge streak of the two arms dealers that changed his life.

I am a major fan of Jean Pierre Jeunet (prob one of my favourite directors) and this film sure does not disappoint.  He keeps to his classic film style, one that could only be described as Crazy and very French.  He has an amazing sense of humour which translates beautifully, both visually and verbally. He has a great cast of actors (many who we have seen on previous films of his) all fitting their roles very comfortable and are all weird and wonderful in their own way.

He sticks to his usual weird and wonderful soundtrack. And also his use of filters (mostly greens and browns) to offset the mood of this film. Which always gives it such a visually stunning set.  Using references to both Amelie and Delicatessen he can engage with his fans, and adding to the beauty of these films in a whole weird and wonderful way.

I think this film is outstanding, crazy and a definite must see. Now I have borrowed and watched this film, I have it on my wish list to purchase and watch again.  Top Notch.
